Wiesjahn, August (? - 28 Dec. 1944)

Word has been received of the death of August Wiesjahn at Wisconsin General hospital, Madison, this morning. Mr. Wiesjahn had been a patient there for more than a month.

The body will lie in state at the Zink Funeral Home until Sunday at 1:30 when services will be conducted there. After this the body will be taken to Christ Evangelical Lutheran church where services will be held at 2:00 o’clock. The Rev. J. Brandt will officiate.

Funeral services for August Wiesjahn, 70, who died Dec. 28, at Wisconsin General Hospital, Madison, were held Sunday afternoon with the Rev. J. Brandt officiating.

A brief service was held at the Zink Funeral Home where the body had been lying in state and then at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, with internment in the Abbotsford cemetery.

Pallbearers were Hans Amacher, Walter Kuenzi, Paul Hessel, George Kelsey, Joseph Elfert and Charles Ziebarth. Flowers were carried by Almira and Jeanette Budtke, Betty Wiesjahn and Aloha Hoffman.

August Wiesjahn was born in Germany Aug. 8, 1874 and came to America when seven years old. He lived at Markesan, Westfield and Spencer before coming to Abbotsford about 18 years ago.

On Dec. 22, 1899, he and Miss Alvina Wiesjahn were married at Richford, Wis. There were three children by this marriage, all of whom survive their parents.

His second marriage took place on May 20, 1926, to Martha Budtke at Auburndale.

Mr. Wiesjahn, who had been in poor health, entered the Wisconsin General Hospital about five weeks before his death.

During his residence here, Mr. Wiesjahn served several years as treasurer and also janitor of Christ Evangelical Lutheran church. He was caretaker at the cemetery and also did shoe repairing.

Surviving besides his wife are three children, Walter Wiesjahn, Milwaukee, and Mrs. L. C. (Dora) Russart and Arthur Wiesjahn, both of Fond du Lac; four grand children; and three sisters and six brothers, Mrs. L. (Martha) Schimelpfenig, Montello; Louis Wiesjahn, Westfield; William Wiesjahn, Chicago; Emil Wiesjahn, Coloma; Paul Wiesjahn, Princeton, Fred Wiesjahn, Eau Claire; Otto Wiesjahn, Thiensville; Mrs. Tena Leetz, Fond du Lac; and Mrs. Laura Grotchman, of Portage.

Two sisters, Ida and Amanda, preceded him in death.

Russert and son, Leonard, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Wiesjahn and daughter, Betty, and Tena Leetz, Fond du Lac; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wiesjahn, Coloma; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Budtke and family, Mrs. Ida Rogney, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Marti and daughter, Marilyn and Mrs. Paul Panser and son, Elmer, Auburndale; Mr. and Mrs. Hugo Hoffman and daughter, Aloha, Colby; Mr. and Mrs. Willis Hoffman, Marshfield; Miss Gladys Hoffman, Wausau; Mr. and Mrs. William Panser, Eau Claire; Mrs. Anna Budtke and family, Auburndale; Mrs. Al Kvisler, Eau Claire; George Dillinger, Marshfield; and Mr. and Mrs. Reinhold Wucherpfennig and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Zophi, Colby, Wis.
